The U.S. Justice Department wants an Oklahoma Juvenile Detention Center to immediately begin offering a safer and more secure environment. The Justice Department filed a lawsuit claiming conditions in the Rader Center, located in Sand Springs, are not adequate to protect the juveniles it houses from violence and sexual assaults.

The U.S. Justice Department is asking a federal judge to order state officials to increase supervision of sex offenders, predators and high-risk juveniles. It's also asking for controlled access to sleeping areas, strict monitoring of bathrooms and showers, plus the creation of a toll-free hotline to report problems.
