There's a new “Gimme the Mike†winner! The finale of our music competition was held Monday night at the historic Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports the season finale had a little bit of everything, suspense, great entertainment and even a special performance from a celebrity judge with Oklahoma ties.
In the moments leading up to the “Gimme the Mike†final competition the green room was full of energy with the clock ticking toward their big moment on stage.
"It's been a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the next hour and 15 minutes of fame I guess," contestant David Bookout said.
"I just want the end of the night to be here so I can be thrilled, or at least not be nervous anymore," said contestant Zach Swon.
Some rehearsed, some relaxed and others did their makeup. All were ready for their moment to shine.
"I'm just ready to get up there and just sing as hard as I can,†said contestant April Lynne. “I'm just ready to get up there and do it."
"Just doing my best, putting my best foot forward,†contestant Wilton Lombard said. “This is for all the marbles, and I want them."
This year's “Gimme the Mike†competition started with 500 people auditioning. Twenty of those made the cut for the show, and Monday night it was down to the six finalists.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, it's show time. One of the six contestants will be the season four champion.
Judge's score the finalists on their vocal and stage performances. This year one of the judge's is country star Bryan White. White also performed for the “Gimme the Mike†crowd. After all the performances, the scores were tallied and this year's winner was announced.
It’s Angela Hendrix!
"I'm shocked, I'm absolutely shocked,†said 2007 “Gimme the Mike†winner Angela Hendrix. “Just privileged beyond measure, I don't know what to say. I really don't. Just a dream come true really."
Angela Hendrix of Jenks gets a lot of prizes for capturing our “Gimme the Mike†title, including the lease of a car for a year and the chance to perform at the Dick Clark and Presley Theaters in Branson.
