MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- The mother of a woman who was fatally stabbed this week gains custody of her daughter's body for burial and permission to care for her grandson.
According to court documents filed in Muskogee County, Lisa Tiger will be allowed to take Shelliegh PoorBear's body to South Dakota for burial in the Porcupine District of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Muskogee police found the 18-year-old PoorBear dead in a local motel on Monday. Officers took 18-year-old Enrique Pacheco, the father of PoorBear's son, into custody.
Prosecutors charged Pacheco with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing PoorBear multiple times.
The court order allows Tiger to take custody of PoorBear's 10-month-old son and take him to her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Pacheco is scheduled for a court hearing on August 29th.
