Locust Grove Public Works Authority has issued a water emergency. They’re asking customers of Locust Grove Public Works and Rural Water District 9 to refrain from non-essential usages of the water, such as watering your lawn, washing your car and filling swimming pools.
Public Works Authority Officials say the city's water plant, which is designed to pump out 500,000 gallons of water a day, is not keeping up with demand. There is also a concern that the area would not have enough water if a major fire was sparked.
Officials say that once the excessive heat wave breaks, customers can continue normal usage of water.
