HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) _ The Hamilton West Side players and coaches are back home for a short respite before hitting the road again Tuesday for the Little League World Series.
The team got to sleep in their own beds Sunday for the first time since leaving for the Great Lakes Regional in Indianapolis nearly two weeks ago. They earned a berth in the World Series with a 6-1 victory Saturday over New Albany, Ind., in Indianapolis, a game televised on ESPN.
They'll take a bus back to Indianapolis for an early morning flight Tuesday in their journey to South Williamsport, Pa.
The 12-year-old West Side All-Stars play their first game Friday against the New England Regional champion from Walpole, Mass.
``We're not going over there just for fun,'' Hamilton manager Tim Nichting said. ``Hopefully, we can put on a good show for the people back in Hamilton.''
It will be the third World Series appearance for a team from the west side of this city, some 30 miles north of Cincinnati, and first since 1993.
Eight U.S. teams and eight from abroad play for the title.
