TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Two Arkansans have performed well in the PGA Championship that finished Sunday afternoon at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ken Duke, an Arkadelphia native who played college golf at Henderson State, finished in a five-way tie for 18th, while former Razorback golfer John Daly, a Dardanelle native, finished in an eight-way tie for 32nd.
For their efforts, Duke was awarded a check for $81,600, while Daly took home $34,750.
Tiger Woods staved off brief challenges from Ernie Els and Woody Austin to claim his fourth PGA Championship with a final-round 69 that put him at eight-under 272 for the tournament. Woods' share of the $7 million purse was $1.2 million.
Daley started much better than he finished. With a three-under-par 67 in the first round on Thursday, he was in second place. But he then fired three straight 73s to finish at 286, six over par.
In the second and third rounds, Duke improved his first-day score of 73 by firing a 71 and then a 69. But he finished with a 71 that put him at four over par for the tournament, 284.
