TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Paramedics were busy Saturday at the PGA championship course at Southern Hills. Emergency Medical Services Authority in Tulsa says 39 people at the course needed EMSA emergency treatment during the third day of the tournament. The blistering heat played a role in 29 of the patient’s crises. EMSA ambulances took four patrons from the course to hospitals for further care.

Away from the tournament, EMSA paramedics provided treatment to six other individuals suffering symptoms of heat-related illness. Five of the six patients admitted drinking heavy amounts of alcohol during their time outdoors and were transported to area hospitals in fair condition.
