OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Things are quiet at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Facility following a brief standoff in which several staff members were assaulted.
A group of juveniles at the facility assaulted staff and then barricaded themselves inside a room at the facility Friday night before police and sheriff's deputies managed to end the standoff peacefully.
Dozens of officers armed themselves with stun guns and beanbag guns after they got reports of the standoff.
Sheriff John Whetsel says the show of force was apparently all it took to defuse the situation at the center on Classen Boulevard.
At least five juveniles who were involved in the melee were transported to the Oklahoma County jail.
Whetsel says the incident remains under investigation.
