ELK CITY, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is releasing details of a deadly crash that occurred during a police chase in western Oklahoma.
Troopers say Gabriel Soberanos-Martinez of Tucson, Arizona, died Tuesday afternoon when the pickup he was riding in crashed at the end of the chase on a county road in Washita County just east of Elk City.
Investigators say Trooper Cody Hyde was trying to stop the truck for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle when the driver refused to stop.
Hyde used a tactical maneuver to stop the truck which then went into a ditch and rolled. Soberanos-Martinez was thrown from the truck and it rolled on top of him.
The driver of the truck and another passenger were treated and released at an Elk City hospital. Hyde wasn't injured.
