DENTON, Texas (AP) -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency is awarding more than $470,000 to five Oklahoma fire departments.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants are to be used to pay for training and safety programs and to buy equipment and vehicles.
In Oklahoma the Washington Volunteer Fire Department in the McCLain County town of Washington is getting more than $215,000 and the Edmond Fire Department will receive $172,000. Also the Bethany Fire Department is getting more than $40,000; the Rush Creek Volunteer Fire Department at Pauls Valley gets $28,500; and town of Ramona will get more than $14,600.
