ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Former astronaut Lisa Nowak wants a judge to let her remove an ankle bracelet as she awaits trial on suspicion of attacking a romantic rival.
She says that the device, which allows authorities to track her movements, is "an unnecessary and excessive expense" that has cost her about $3,000 so far.
Nowak has pleaded not guilty to attempted kidnapping, battery and burglary with assault. In an interview with detectives, Nowak says she confronted her rival for the affections of an astronaut because she wanted to know where the rival stood in the love triangle.
