OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A probation revocation hearing scheduled Thursday for former Oklahoma State University basketball star Byron Houston has been delayed so he can undergo a mental health evaluation.
Houston, 37, had been jailed since his June 13 arrest for indecent exposure, but he was released on his own recognizance Tuesday.
He was on probation at the time of his arrest because of three prior convictions for the same offense.
Prosecutors are seeking to have that probation revoked, but they agreed to postpone Thursday's hearing until after Houston's evaluation.
The hearing is now scheduled for Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. before Oklahoma County District Judge Ray C. Elliott.
Houston also faces an Aug. 31 preliminary hearing on the new indecent exposure charge filed after his most recent arrest.
Houston, OSU's career leader in scoring and blocked shots, was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1992 NBA draft. He averaged 3.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game during a four-year NBA career with Golden State, Seattle and Sacramento.
