OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The T- Boone Pickens Foundation is giving $50,000 to a program that will bring women from Afghanistan to the U.S. and Oklahoma City and teach them about democracy and entrepreneurship.

The money goes to the Women Impacting Public Policy Institute to bring 13 women to the United States this week. Four of the women will be in Oklahoma City September 2nd through 8th to shadow female business owners.

The group will also visit Midland, Michigan, and Washington D.C.

The Pickens Foundation was founded last year by Texas oilman Boone Pickens who is a native of Holdenville and a graduate of Oklahoma A&M, which is now Oklahoma State.
