The Cherokee Casino in Catoosa is helping Green Country put its best foot forward for the PGA by cleaning up.

The casino says it wants people coming to see the 89th PGA Championship to also see that Tulsa is a friendly, clean, vibrant city, so dozens of volunteers from the casino cleaned up I-44 near the resort on Friday. They hope to encourage the thousands of out-of-town visitors to come back, long after the PGA event is over.

“Tons of events going on, so we've got to make sure that our place can look as good as it can,” Promotions Manager Michael Grim said. “And it's part of the Keep Catoosa Beautiful, we wanna do our part on that as well."

The Cherokee Casino says its workers have been volunteering to clean up the highway for several years. The casino gives out prizes for various things like strangest piece of trash found or most trash bags filled. This year, volunteers are competing for tickets to the PGA
