NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma is on the practice field Thursday for the first time this season. And the first order of business for coach Bob Stoops is taking a close look at his three candidates for starting quarterback.
Stoops will be looking at more than arm strength and accuracy as he works to make a choice. He'll also watch to see how the rest of the team responds to the signal callers.
The competition revolves around Joey Halzle, a junior, redshirt freshman Sam Bradford and true freshman Keith Nichol. Stoops says he's seen similar talents in all three quarterbacks and thinks the competition's been healthy.
OU players reported to camp Wednesday and will go through conditioning drills and helmets-only practice Thursday.
