MIAMI (AP) -- In the middle of nowhere, a Pacific tropical storm
is forming.
The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Erick is
churning in the oceanic expanse between Hawaii and California,
thousands of miles from land and far from everything.
In the Atlantic, meanwhile, the remnants of short-lived Tropical
Storm Chantal are expected to brush by Newfoundland today.
Chantal was the third tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane
season, but quickly shed the title over cold waters.
