Scattered opportunities for thunderstorms will continue for the next several days before hotter, drier weather settles in this weekend. The National Weather Service said storms should develop near a frontal boundary as it slowly drifts southward and weakens. Storm chances will be greatest near the weakening front and other boundaries created by storm activity. High pressure is forecast to build over the weekend, bringing hotter temperatures. On Tuesday, skies were partly cloudy and temperatures ranged from 88 degrees in McAlester to 97 degrees in Guymon. The mercury peaked at 90 degrees in Gage, Guthrie and Tulsa and hit 91 degrees in Oklahoma City, Ponca City and Stillwater. Partly cloudy conditions will continue through Sunday, with a chance of storms statewide on Wednesday. Temperatures should reach the 80s and 90s before dipping into the 60s and 70s, forecasters said. Showers and thunderstorms should be most prevalent in southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday, according to the weather service. Temperatures should peak in the 80s and 90s. There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms across southern sections of the state on Friday. Highs should reach the 90s and lows in the 60s and 70s are forecast. Conditions are forecast to be dry Saturday and Sunday, with highs reaching the 90s and lows falling into the 60s and 70s.
