Large or small ideas can make a difference for cancer patients and one program that is helping is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Six In The Morning anchor LeAnne Taylor reports money raised from the race goes to help people who are battling breast cancer.
The event is about 6 weeks away and The News On 6 is the new media sponsor so over the next few weeks, we'll be spotlighting some of the people who are stepping up to show support. And the News On 6 is inviting you to sign up soon to be involved.
Each year, thousand of folks lace up their sneakers and hit the pavement for the Komen Race for the Cure. Some are walking in honor of those who have battled breast cancer while others walk in memory of someone else.
More than 7,500 people participated in last year's race and lots of them chose to compete together as a team. This year I am inviting you to join my team. To register it is as easy as the click of a mouse.
You can register online at www.komentulsa.org. Click on the team page and then on the registration. Click on my picture, LeAnne Taylor and join the team. You can fill out the registration form online, letting us know if you are a competitive runner or you just want to be in the fun run. For your entry fee, you will receive a t-shirt and everyone is invited, even the kids!
But do not stop there, we want you to gather pledges or have folks make a donation in support of the race. Help us put our best foot forward in the fight against breast cancer.
The race is Saturday September 15 at the Cityplex towers at 81st and Lewis. Last year, they raised nearly $600,000 and a majority of the money goes to programs in the Tulsa area.
