McALESTER, Okla. (AP) _ The investigation continues into the death of a prison inmate found beaten in his cell at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.
Warden's assistant Terry Crenshaw says 33-year-old inmate Kevin Christy was found unconscious in his cell on the prison's H Unit on July 10th. Crenshaw says Christy had severe head and neck trauma.
Christy was treated at McAlester Regional Health Center; he was later airlifted to Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was placed on life support. His family decided to have Christy taken off of life support and the inmate, who had a long history of burglary and forgery convictions, died on July 11th.
