WASHINGTON (AP) -- Oklahoma's five members of the U.S. House split 4-1 in a vote Friday on a new farm bill that passed the House.
Democrat Dan Boren voted for the bill while Republicans Tom Cole, Frank Lucas, Mary Fallin and John Sullivan voted against it.
The bill passed on a 231-191 vote despite a veto threat from President Bush. Two hundred twelve Democrats and 19 Republicans voted for it while 177 Republicans and 14 Democrats voted no.
The bill would provide more money for conservation, renewable energy, nutrition programs and crops such as corn and soybeans.
Opponents to the bill disagree with new taxes on some multinational companies that have subsidiaries in the United States. The tax is intended to help provide about $4 billion in food stamp and nutrition programs.
