CASTELSARRASIN, France (AP) -- Italy's Daniele Bennati has won the 17th stage of the Tour de France.
The victory came a day after former leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark was sent home for lying to his team about his whereabouts last month when he missed random doping tests.
Spain's Alberto Contador now wears the yellow jersey as the race's overall leader.
Bennati won a sprint at the end of Thursday's 117-mile ride as the doping-marred Tour heads north toward Sunday's finish in Paris.
