MIAMI, Okla. (AP) _ Thirty-three dogs and 30 cats displaced because of recent flooding in northeast Oklahoma will be transported across the state in an adoption caravan Wednesday. The caravan organized by state and federal emergency management officials will make stops in Tulsa, Midwest City, Norman and Ardmore. The pets will be transported by bus.
The dogs and cats will be given to animal adoption organizations at the various stops. Those groups will eventually take applications from people wishing to adopt the animals.
Emergency officials also said Tuesday that disaster recovery centers in Washington and Nowata counties will close Saturday.
The centers provide emergency assistance information to people whose homes were flooded.
