IRVING, Texas (AP) _ The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are picked to finish second in Conference USA's West Division in a pre-season poll of conference football coaches.

TU is one point behind defending West Division and conference champion Houston in the voting by coaches. Defending East Division champ Southern Miss is also the pick to repeat.

Tulsa went 8-5 last year and played in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. The Golden Hurricane open their season August 30th at Louisiana-Monroe. TU will be led by quarterback Paul Smith, who along with linebacker Nelson Coleman made the pre-season all-conference first team.
