KITZBUEHEL, Austria (AP) -- Luis Horna beat Jeremy Chardy of France 7-5, 6-3 Monday behind a dominant serve to advance to the second round of the Austrian Open.
The Peruvian next faces 11th-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain.
Diego Hartfield of Argentina, ranked 87th, rallied to defeat No. 283 Martin Fischer of Austria 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 despite double-faulting four times to lose the first set.
Christophe Rochus of Belgium edged Australian Chris Guccione 7-6 (6), 7-6 (10). Guccione had 14 aces, but converted only one of 10 break points.
Paul Capdeville of Chile won the first 10 games to beat Hugo Armando of the United States 6-0, 6-3.
Olivier Patience of France defeated Jan Hajek of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-2.
All seeded players have a bye in the first round. The tournament used to be called the Generali Open.
