SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ City Hall will be lit up with orange lights and keeping track of Barry Bonds' home runs starting Friday as the Giants slugger gets closer to breaking Hank Aaron's historic record.

Mayor Gavin Newsom said a flag hanging from the balcony outside his office would carry the number 753 _ where Bonds' tally stood after he hit two home runs in Chicago on Thursday _ and would be updated with each additional homer until Aaron's mark is surpassed with number 756.

``Barry Bonds is one of the greatest baseball players of all-time,'' Newsom said.

``For the last 14 years, he has entertained us at the plate and in left-field, and more recently, his splash hits into McCovey Cove have become synonymous with San Francisco and Giants baseball,'' the mayor added. ``I think I speak for all San Franciscans when I say, GO BARRY.''
