STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Senior guard Marcus Dove was suspended from the Oklahoma State basketball team Monday after his weekend arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Dove was arrested early Sunday by OSU police on a DUI complaint and released later that day, said Tina Pierce with the Payne County Sheriff's Department.
Formal charges had not been filed Monday afternoon, court records show.
Head coach Sean Sutton said in a statement that Dove had been "suspended indefinitely for violation of team policy."
"We've made every attempt to handle certain situations internally, but obviously, the message is not getting through to some of our players," Sutton said. "They need to understand and respect what it means to be a member of the Cowboy basketball family. Marcus will be suspended and punished. I'm extremely embarrassed and disappointed."
Dove, from Long Beach, Calif., is one of two returning seniors on the OSU basketball team. He averaged 4.7 points and 4.5 rebounds last season for OSU and was named the Big 12 Conference's co-defensive player of the year.
It is the third arrest of an OSU basketball player in the last three months.
Junior Terrel Harris was arrested for trying to use a fake ID in May and sophomore Obi Muonelo was arrested for being underage in a Stillwater bar on June.
