DURANT, Okla. (AP) -- Charges have been filed against a Bennington man almost nine months after another man was beaten to death.
Bryan County authorities have charged 36-year-old David Eugene Russell with first-degree manslaughter in the death of 39-year-old William Eugene Randall of Bennington.
According to court papers filed Friday, Randall died November 18th from injuries he received during a fight with Russell.
District Attorney Emily Redman says authorities had to wait on an autopsy report and a report from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation before filing the charges.
Redman says Russell was giving Randall a ride home from a Bennington tavern and that the two men began arguing, leading to a fight.
