OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Legislators Wednesday chose a Florida-based company to put Oklahoma's prison system under new scrutiny. The operation is facing a comprehensive performance study and audit.
Officials with MGT of America will meet with lawmakers and officials with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections next week.
The firm is based in Tallahassee, Florida, but its criminal justice practice is based in Austin, Texas.
Many of its partners are management veterans of the Texas prison system.
As of earlier week, Oklahoma had just under 25,100 inmates in state and private prisons and community corrections centers.
