OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma City police identified the victim and the officers involved in a deadly shooting at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex.

Police say 32-year-old James Lee Ware was shot and killed Thursday by Sergeant Jeffrey Pope during an altercation between Ware and another officer, Sergeant Paul Galyon.

During the altercation, police say a crowd of about 10 to 15 people attacked the two officers, and one point Galyon thought Ware was reaching for his service weapon. Police say he yelled to Pope, who unholstered his weapon and shot Ware, who died at the scene.

Galyon is on injury leave from injuries sustained in the incident, while Pope has been placed on routine administrative leave pending an investigation.
