OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Former Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer says Tommie Harris is the best lineman in the NFL today and deserves to be on the list of the state's greatest athletes.

The Oklahoman recently put out its centennial list of the state's 100 greatest athletes, which didn't include Harris.

Switzer never coached Harris, but says the defensive lineman is the second best player ever to play at OU after Lee Roy Selmon, who made the list at Number 6.

Jim Thorpe was Number 1 on the list, followed by Mickey Mantle, Barry Sanders, John Smith and Shannon Miller.

The Oklahoman columnist Barry Tramel acknowledged in Thursday's paper that Harris deserved to be on the list. The NFL all-pro currently is playing for the Chicago Bears.
