Many fireworks shows claim to be the biggest and the best, but folks along Duck Creek on Grand Lake want you to see what they have in store for you. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports it's a 4th of July show and Centennial Celebration all rolled into one, and it is one of the top ten events of its kind in the entire nation.

Crews at Grand Lake are loading up the fireworks and counting down the days until they'll put on a big show. They're getting ready for Duck Creek's fireworks display.

"A lot of hard work, a lot of love and labor, but that's what it takes you know," said Gary Caimano of Western Enterprises.

That's what it takes for what's billed as Oklahoma's largest fireworks show. Organizers say it's a once in a lifetime opportunity because the event combines Independence Day and Oklahoma's Centennial.

The show is produced by the same company that kicked off the state centennial with a stunning fireworks and laser show in Tulsa.

"We do the shows within a five state area of Oklahoma, so we know everything that's available out there, and this show, the passion is different. The feeling is different. The monetary value is different. It's just the largest show," Caimano said.

And it’s one of the best. The American Pyrotechnics Association rated it as one of the top ten shows in the U.S. this year.

"It's the only $100,00 show in the state of Oklahoma, and for that matter for many miles, and many states and many borders beyond this,” said event organizer Joe Harwood.

The fireworks will be set off from five barges on the lake. Part of the show is patriotic; the rest has an Oklahoma flavor.

"Vince Gill and Jimmy Webb song, Oklahoma Rising, done to fireworks, it doesn't get any better than that,” said Caimano.

The Duck Creek Fireworks display on Grand Lake is usually a big one, but this year, organizers wanted to step it up even more in honor of Oklahoma's Centennial. They say it couldn't be done without hundreds of donors.

It will all end with a big bang on the Fourth, with a celebration that promises to be one to remember. There will also be an air show including an F-16 flyover on the Fourth of July at Duck Creek.
