NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets hired former NBA player Paul Pressey as an assistant coach on Monday.
"Paul will be a great addition to our team," head coach Byron Scott said. "He has many years of experience in the NBA, as both a great player and assistant coach."
Pressey has spent 26 years in the NBA as a coach and player. He joins a staff that also includes assistants Darrell Walker, Kenny Gattison and Charlie Parker.
Pressey spent the past three seasons with the Boston Celtics, serving as an assistant coach for the first two and as an advance scout during the 2006-07 campaign.
He was take in the first round of the 1982 draft by Milwaukee and spent 11 years with the Bucks, San Antonio, and Golden State.
Pressey also was an assistant coach with Orlando from 2000-2004 and with the San Antonio Spurs from 1994 to 2000.
Pressey began his coaching career as an assistant with Golden State during the 1992-93 season, then returned to the court as a player for 18 games while when the Warriors' lineup was depleted by injuries. He spent the entire 1993-94 season as an assistant coach with the Warriors.
