The flood siren sounded in Guthrie Saturday morning, and now everyone in town is keeping a close eye on Cottonwood Creek. It flows into the Cimarron River which is already running over its banks.

Guthrie's Mayor says the entire west side of town might have to be evacuated. Residents say only time will tell.

"I'm surprised it hadn't already come out," Guthrie resident Pearl Welch said.

"Only the Cottonwood and the Cimarron know what's gonna happen with this situation," said Chuck Burtcher of Guthrie.

The Cottonwood flooded 12 years ago, flooding the west side of town.
