MILFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A woman and her ex-husband were sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in prison each for giving heroin to a 13-year-old boy who died of an overdose.

In a deal with prosecutors, Angela Krasowski, 24, and James Krasowski, 34, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor.

Frank Korondi, 13, was found dead in the bathroom of James Krasowski's home in May 2006. The boy had planned to sleep over at the home of Angela Krasowski's 10-year-old brother the night before, police said. Instead, she took the boys to her ex-husband's house.

Police said Angela and James Krasowski smoked and snorted heroin with Korondi that night.

James Krasowski's lawyer, Dean Popkin, said his client was very remorseful.

``My client recognizes it was his fault in the matter and he accepts the consequences,'' Popkin said. ``Had he not been drunk and high, this would never have happened. He would never have allowed the child to have any drugs.''

David Egan, Angela Krasowski's public defender, did not immediately return a call Wednesday.

Korondi's parents have a lawsuit pending against both defendants.
