How cool would it be to own your very own fire engine? The News on 6’s Rick Wells found one for sale in the Tulsa World. He reports this is a fire engine that's had a very busy retirement.
You can find nearly anything in the newspaper classifieds, fur coats, a Ford truck, or even a fire truck.
Dr John Karr has had the truck for about ten years. He's driven it in parades. In fact, it won a special award in the Tulsa Christmas parade one year. He's used it in mission work and community service activities to help teach kids fire safety.
"It's got a big continental engine in it,†Karr said.
It's in great shape. He's rechromed it and kept it running like a top.
“It could be parked out here for a month and not have run and come out here, and it just pops right off,†Karr said.
It still could be a working fire engine. He says it pumps 1,000 gallons a minute. The siren still works, and he's got an old chief's hat from the PJSTFD, but he can't remember where that's from. The asking price is $18,500.
“When you drive it down the road the police and other fire trucks you see, they all recognize you. They think you're the real McCoy,†said Karr.
