Oklahoma City police are investigating a bomb scare that caused a panic near the Oklahoma City National Memorial Friday afternoon. Officers blocked off the area between the memorial and the downtown federal building after someone spotted what appeared to be a grenade.
The device was only a novelty cigarette lighter designed to resemble a hand grenade. Police say they recovered other evidence at the scene and are investigating the hoax as a crime.
They believe someone left the lighter there to scare people.
