FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) -- The murder trial of an Arkansas man in the deaths of his girlfriend and her children from Oklahoma is being delayed while the man receives a brain scan.

James Aaron Miller is charged in Fort Smith with the December 2006 deaths of 28-year-old Bridgette Barr and her 5-year-old daughter Sydney and 2-year-old son Garrett.

The children lived in Muldrow with their father and were visiting their mother for the Christmas holiday.

The trial was to begin this month but is now to start March 31st to allow time for the brain scan of Miller and for attorneys to review the results.
