Health Officials Report Increase In Flu-Like Illnesses

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State health officials say flu-like illnesses are increasing in parts of Oklahoma. Doctors in the state Health Department's flu-surveillance network are reporting more influenza-like cases in Oklahoma City and in northwestern Oklahoma.
The illnesses include respiratory virus, adenovirus, parainfluenza, bronchiolitis and strep throat. The symptoms include fevers of 100 degrees or higher, coughs, sneezing, wheezing and sore throat.

Oklahoma City-County Health Department director Dr. Paul Dungan says anyone feeling sick should stay home and away from work, schools, church and crowded areas such as malls.
Treatment for the illnesses include plenty of rest and fluids.
