CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Prominent filmmaker Ken Burns is endorsing Barack Obama for president.
The Walpole, New Hampshire, resident says he is disappointed in the negative tone of Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign. Burns says Obama has consistently presented a positive agenda for the country, while politics has descended into "cynical slash-and-burn character attacks."
He says Clinton is getting some bad advice, adding he's sure Clinton will "clean up the act."
Burns created the documentaries "The Civil War" and "Jazz" and says he has known the Clintons for 15 years. Meanwhile, Clinton's campaign is criticizing a recent Obama mailing, saying it directly attacked Clinton's character and put forward misleading information.
