Governor Brad Henry toured ice storm damage in Tulsa Thursday afternoon. Henry conducted a similar tour in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. On Thursday’s tour in Tulsa, a number of state and local officials joined the Governor as he walked through a Tulsa neighborhood devastated by this week’s ice storm.
The governor was also briefed by police, fire, and emergency workers. Henry says he has mobilized local, state and federal aid to help in the recovery effort.
"I understand the frustration that people face. We're out here to see some of the hardest hit areas. I ask you to please be patient and let these officials do their work. We're doing all that we can and I promise you that help is on the way," said Governor Brad Henry.
The governor also urged everyone to check on elderly and disabled neighbors in need.
The ice storm has been blamed for 23 deaths and left 600,000 homes and businesses without power at its height.
