UNDATED (AP) -- The Colorado Avalanche kept their off-ice officials busy Sunday night while setting a NHL-season high for goals in a game.

Milan Hejduk notched his fifth career hat trick and set up three goals as the Avalanche ripped St. Louis 9-5. Paul Stastny had two goals and three assists for the Avs, who scored five times in the second period to take a 6-2 lead.

Wojtek Wolski scored twice and Ryan Smyth had a goal and two assists as the Avs improved to 12-and-3 at home.

New Jersey's nine-game winning streak ended when Brendan Shanahan scored 30 seconds into overtime to send the Rangers to a 1-0 win against the Devils. Henrik Lunqvist turned back 17 shots in his fifth shutout of the season as the Rangers improved to 4-and-0 versus New Jersey this season.

Detroit made it six straight wins by scoring the last three goals in a 5-2 verdict over Carolina. Andreas Liljas snapped a 2-2 stalemate in the second period before Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom scored in the final three minutes. Jiri Hudler had three assists for the Red Wings, who lead the overall standings with 44 points.

Third-period goals by Cory Sarich and Daymond Langkow lifted Calgary sent the Chicago Blackhawks to their season-high fourth straight loss 3-2. The game was tied 1-1 until Sarich tallied with 8:41 remaining.
