BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU head football coach Les Miles has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the university through 2012. The deal apparently ends the possibility the former Oklahoma State coach might leave for a job at the University of Michigan. Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr announced his retirement in November.
The contract extension was approved by the LSU board's athletic committee and requires approval of the full board which is expected to be a formality when it meets today.
The contract doesn't change Miles' salary which already will rise to at least $2.8 million a year based on LSU's Southeastern Conference championship this year.
LSU is 11-2 and faces 11-1 Ohio State in the BCS national championship game January 7th.
