Charges have been filed in an explosion that leveled a Eufaula home earlier this month. The entire 4,000 square foot structure was leveled when its propane tank suddenly exploded shortly before 5 p.m. on November 20. The homeowners were absent at the time of the explosion.

The McIntosh County District Attorney has charged the man who hooked up the gas to the home with a misdemeanor charge for not meeting regulations. Debris from the home was found a quarter of a mile away.

The blast could be heard more than 30 miles away. Authorities say the explosion carried the force of a thousand pound bomb, and it startled all of Eufaula. It also damaged several other nearby homes.
