DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ A major winter storm bearing down on the Midwest could mean problems for Iowa.

Forecasters say a mix of rain, sleet and snow will hit the state Saturday. All of Iowa is under a winter storm watch.

The National Weather Service says the key to what happens is the temperature. Northern Iowa will likely get hit with up to a-half foot of snow, while central Iowa could see snow, then freezing and rain.

The weather service says significant ice will be possible, which could create power outages and downed trees.

The system will head out of the Midwest on Sunday.
