OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Former Oklahoma Sooner Lucious Selmon is applying for the vacant head coaching job at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. UCO recently fired coach Chuck Langston as the school is under NCAA investigation.

Selmon says the investigation is not a concern.

``It really doesn't bother me,'' he said. ``If it's handled the right way, you can overcome it.

``I think the location is great and I think you could do a good job recruiting players there.''

He lettered at OU from 1971-73 alongside brothers Dewey and Lee Roy then spent 19 seasons as a Sooner assistant coach before becoming an NFL assistant coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1995-2002.

His most recent coaching job was at Michigan State where he coached the defensive line in 2005.

He currently serves as a private consultant to college athletes who want to get in to the NFL.

Other possible candidates for the UCO job include Edmond Santa Fe coach Dan Cocannouer and current UCO defensive coordinator Steve Patterson.
