ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Two major retailers are pulling lead-contaminated children's jewelry from their shelves.
Discount retailer Big Lots and crafts store chain Michaels are discontinuing sales of the jewelry as part of a settlement with the New York attorney general's office.
The move comes as federal regulators are expected to announce a national, voluntary recall of lead-contaminated children's jewelry. Consumer safety groups are also set to release their annual list of what they consider unsafe toys.
Big Lots has 1,300 discount stores nationwide. The 950-store Michaels chain is the nation's largest arts and crafts retailer.
