Two Police Officers Remembered At Memorial Service

The Tulsa Police Department said good bye to two of its own on Wednesday. Long time members of the TPD, George and Sue Wallace were killed in a car accident last weekend. News On 6â€™s Ashli Sims reports the bagpipe's somber song ushered in hundreds who came to say a final farewell to George and Sue Wallace. The couple joined in life by marriage was side-by-side in death, surrounded by sprays of flowers and cloaked by the blue line.

"The love in their marriage extended to the mutual love of the job. The job was but one of many ties that bound them together as husband and wife," said Tulsa Police Chief Ron Palmer.

George Wallace was a retired corporal with 26 years on the force. His wife, Sue, was an active duty officer of 16 years.

"Sue and George's combined service to our department and the citizens of Tulsa is a sterling example of devotion to duty, self-sacrifice and commitment to public service," said Chief Ron Palmer.

The couple was killed in a traffic accident in Glenpool last weekend. The double loss has hit the police department hard.

"And this brought them to the point of just bumping their professionalism, but they never stopped. They never quit. They were always there," said Tulsa Police Chaplain Danny Lynchard.

George was remembered as a loving father and an avid fisherman. Monty Bunny honored his sister, Sue, with a song.

"She was friend, a sister, a mother and we just miss her deeply," said Monty Bunny, Sue's Brother:

The flag-draped caskets were led out of the sanctuary, shouldered by their brothers and sisters in uniform.

Those who shared the job the Wallaceâ€™s loved escorted them on their final ride. The lights were not flashing in warning, but in honor of two of the department's finest.

George Wallace was be buried in Wyandotte, his wife, Sue, in Dustin, Oklahoma.
