LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "Beowulf" stands alone at the box office.
The animated telling of the classic story earned more than $28 million in its opening weekend, 40% of which came from special 3-D showings in regular theaters and on Imax screens.
Jerry Seinfeld's animated "Bee Movie" dropped back to second with $14.3 million. It has brought in nearly $99 million after three weeks.
Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman's "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium," opened in fifth place with $10 million.
