NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ After rallying from 21 and 25 points down in back-to-back weeks, Texas Tech hopes to avoid a similar situation when they play Number 2 Oklahoma Saturday.
Red Raider quarterback Sonny Cumbie says a 20-point deficit against O-U can quickly become 30 or 40 points.
Tech fell behind TCU 21-to-0 two weeks ago before scoring 56 consecutive points on their way to a 70-to-35 win. It was 30-to-5 last week before the Red Raiders came alive to win 31-to-30 at Kansas.
Fortunately for Texas Tech a defense that had been an Achilles' heel in the past is turning into a second-half plus. The Red Raiders' defense shut out the Jayhawks in the second half and has allowed the offense to outscore opponents 93-to-30 after halftime.
