OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A grand jury that's been investigating former Insurance commissioner Carroll Fisher adjourned for the month Wednesday without taking any action.

Fisher's attorneys had predicted he would be indicted again this week. But the grand jury's work was slowed by problems getting witnesses from Texas.

Judge Robert Simms, who is presiding over the grand jury, says authorities are making progress in getting the Texas witnesses.

Grand jurors plan to return October 18th thru the 20th.

The grand jury is looking into Fisher's dealings with Texas businessman Gene E. Phillips.

In 1999, Fisher allowed a Phillips-related company could buy American Reserve Life Insurance Company in Tulsa. The purchase was approved over the objections of his own experts.
